Due to the cost of repairs for a borehole (a borehole is a drilled water well), often a village does not have the funds to repair a non-working borehole, and they may not have the training to do it. Consequently, they have to go further afield to collect water, often from a contaminated pond, lake, river or stream.
Consulting with villages our team identifies a non-working borehole, assesses what needs to be done, obtains the components required to fix the borehole, and signs a contract with the village borehole committee who agree to repay our team for the cost of the parts.
While working on the repairs, the team trains at least one villager who will be responsible for minor maintenance of the borehole. They are given a contact number to call if they need assistance.
