In May of 2009, we decided to send a 40 ft. sea container of supplies to Father Raphael Mponda in southern Malawi. We held a fund raising dinner in the fall and during the summer and fall we collected items that would focus on giving people a “hand up” rather than a “handout”. Many people helped by collecting items and volunteering to help with the fund raising event. The 2009 Deer Park United Church Annual Report has a section describing the container project.
